Chokwe Language


KUCHI is one of the most common words you will hear spoken throughout the Chokwe world. This is the simplest greeting, and is often the first word learned by those who have an interest in the language.

Chokwe (or Cokwe, Kioko & Badjok) is a bantu language that is part of the Chokwe-Luchazi language family and is spoken by the Chokwe people of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Angola and Zambia. It is one of several national languages of Angola and is a de facto lingua franca in eastern Angola.
